Friday Favorites

And thus begins my first “Weekly Friday Favorites”! This is taken inspired by a fantastic blog: A Dark World Inside, and a Bright Light Ahead. I love the idea of corralling all of my weekly finds in to one blog post! So huzzah! Here goes the smattering list of things I have found enjoyable and exciting this week.

  • Re-discovering Poetry.

This sounds so simple, but as I have brought out more poems for my kiddos to read this week and have experience reading, I have really gotten in to the poetry myself! The above line is from one of my favorite poems, “I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud” by William Wordsworth.

  • Protein Bites

I have noticed how hungry I get to be in the afternoon and while I was scoping the protein bar section in Target the other day, I found some of these protein bites, perfect to eat one or two in the afternoon. They are pretty tasty and a great little snack for a burst of energy. Although I failed to take a picture before eating them all (whoops), here’s the link.

  • Jumping Rope

I found a cheap jump rope on sale at TJ Maxx last weekend for $6.00, figuring it would be a good cardio workout for days I don’t work out (or days I do!). I am sooo happy I bought this small piece of cardio equipment, and after looking at various jump rope workouts I have realized how beneficial jumping rope is. I’m looking forward to creating jump rope workouts to share soon! Here are some other cheap Jump Ropes I’ve found. Amazon,, and

  • Creating your own Science Experiment.

This week, I gave my students the opportunity to create their own science experiment based on the assigned type of energy I gave them. (Kinetic, solar, etc.) Since then, they have really taken off and have been creating so many amazing projects and experiments! Have you gotten to create your own science experiment lately? I think for many of us, the joy of finding out something about the world around us by asking questions and seeking answers, isn’t necessarily something we do. But why isn’t it?? It’s so fun to do! As a teacher, I am a big proponent of Lifelong Learning…to give you some ideas for experiments…here’s a list of science experiments from Steve Spangler!

  • Mug Cakes.

I’ve been back on my Mug Cake Kick. This week I created a pretty tasty cinnamon roll mug cake. Recipe will be up soon! For now…here’s a few tasty recipes.

  1. Snickerdoodle Mug Cake from Five Heart Home
  2. The Moistest Very Vanilla Mug Cake from Table for Two
  3. Cookies n’ Cream Mug Cake from Kirbie’s Cravings
  4. {Two Minute} Coffee Cake in a Mug from Heather Likes Food

Happy Friday!

Have a great weekend!!

Hi Caitlin, thanks for sharing your favourites! I particularly loved the poem, I might actually share it on my own blog. You may have just inspired my own interest in poetry 🙂
